Konami is revitalising an old 8-bit series, but it's non Castlevania

While the world waits for a new Castlevania or Soundless Hill, Konami has other plans. Nowadays it announced GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon, a 2D Metroidvania roguelite with a Ukiyo-e inspired artwork style. Information technology's a revitalisation of a 1987 NES platformer that was never discharged outside of Japan, and information technology's not exactly the first series you'd expect a publisher to revisit.

Merely Konami does what it wants, on the face of it, and this newly announced platformer in reality looks really unagitated: if you subscribe to the artwork flair of Okami (also elysian by Ukiyo-e) and mash it into a pot with Bloodstained and Dead Cells, that's basically what GetsuFumaDen looks same.

"Ryukotsuki has returned after a thousand years, undoing the seal upon hell and bringing forth monsters and evil spirits who threaten the doom," reads Konami's blurb. "The Getsu clan has unbroken watch over the underworld ever since the first Fuma defeated Ryukotsuki. Today, their heroic 27th leader must descend into that vile abyss to root out the evil behindhand this cataclysm."

The spunky will officially launch in 2022, but if you'rhenium especially eager information technology'll launch into Primeval Access happening May 13. "Throughout this period, we want to utilise user feedback and Stephen Foster an active discussion to increase the quality of the game," manufacturer Shin Murato said. "We wish work very closely with our profession to help wreak this game to life through content review, bug fixes, and reconciliation."
